Berea, OH - Geneva′s track team took things in out of the cold on Friday as it competed inside at the Baldwin Wallace College Invitational. For an early season event against a field of very competitive opponents, the Golden Tornadoes fared quite well and enjoyed several solid individual performances from both the men′s and women′s teams.

Although the meet was not scored based on team performances, the individual events were very competitive with several Geneva athletes appearing at or near the top of the field.

On the women′s side, Brittany Conzo had a solid day both individually and as a member of Geneva′s women′s relay squads. Conzo finished third in the final heat in the 55 meter dash as well as starting in the top spot for Geneva′s 4 x 100 relay team that brought home a second place overall finish. Conzo was joined by Kelsey Anderson, Jamie Williams and Tiffany Bear. Geneva′s "B" relay team, comprised of Kathleen Bolton, Sarah Litzenberger, Carolyn Bolton and Jamie Gessner finished third.

Tiffany Bear was sixth out of 25 competitors in the 200 meter event with a final time of 28.65, while also claiming the seventh place overall spot in the shot put. Teammates Susan Fletcher and Rebecca VanRegenmorter finished second and third respectively in the one mile event for Geneva. Fletcher was less than one second behind the winner in the one mile. Kelsey Anderson was fourth in the 55-meter hurdles, but it was Dee Koutsourais who claimed Geneva′s only first place prize. Koutsourais earned the top spot in the 5000 meter event with a time of 18:47, which was over one minute better than the next competitor.

On the men′s side, Phil Falk placed seventh out of 29 runners in the one-mile event in addition to claiming seventh place in the 800 meter run. Ryen Smith finished fourth in the final heat of the 55-meter hurdles, while Andrew Foxenberg continued his outstanding Geneva career with a second place finish in the 5000 meter run with a time of 16:01, which was just five seconds off the pace set by the winner.

Geneva′s 4 x 200 meter relay team comprised of Ryen Smith, Michael Cobb, Nick Spigner and Luke Duriancik placed second as did the 4 x 400 team. Finally, it was Geneva′s Akambe Annankra placing third in the men′s triple jump event with a distance of 41′50".

Geneva will return to action on the indoor circuit on February 24th when it competes at the Mount Union College meet.
