Evans became acting president of the 180-year-old liberal arts university in August of 2006 upon the death of Dennis Spellmann, who had served as Lindenwood′s president since 1990. In addition to his bachelor′s degree in psychology from Geneva, Evans also holds a doctorate in research psychology and a master′s degree in psychology from Iowa State University.

Geneva′s tradition of servant-leadership in higher education is exemplified by the college presidents among its alumni ranks. These include: Dr. Fredric B.
