Late Rally Falls Short, Geneva Drops Decision to Thiel

Greenville, PA - Geneva′s baseball team scored early and it also scored late, but Thiel was still able to put enough runs on the board in the middle to secure a 7-5 decision over Geneva on Wednesday afternoon. In a single, nine-inning affair, the Golden Tornadoes came up on the short end of a two-run decision and fell to 10-11 on the season.

Geneva posted a pair of runs in the top of the first, but Thiel scored six unanswered runs, including four in the bottom of the first inning. The Golden Tornadoes tried to rally back into the game in the final two innings, but came up short.

Rob Arata collected three hits and Joel Dille chipped in with a pair of doubles, but Geneva′s offense could not overcome Thiel′s early lead.

Andy Hiskey started for the Golden Tornadoes and pitched valiantly for five innings, but picked up his first loss of the young season.

Geneva will play Myers University in a four-game non-conference series over the weekend. Geneva will host Myers on Friday and it will then travel to Cleveland for a double-dip on Saturday afternoon.
