“Geneva′s Clarke and Ferguson 1st Team Selections”

Beaver Falls, PA – It was an exciting basketball season on College Hill in 2007 with both teams qualifying for the post-season, while the women′s team set school history with its first-ever trip to the NAIA national tournament. This week, the post-season honors began to roll in for the men′s and women′s teams and as expected, Geneva was very well represented across the board.

On the men′s side, senior transfer Jermaine Ferguson (Lynchburg, VA) was named a first-team All-Conference selection in the AMC North. Ferguson averaged 14.8 points and 7.0 rebounds a game to lead Geneva in both categories. He shot 54% from the field and posted 31 points in Geneva′s near play-off upset against Notre Dame College in the season finale. Also for the men, Kyle McDermott (Jamestown, NY) was a second team selection and Greg McDivitt (Windham, OH) was a third team selection. Sophomore Justin Nardi (Beaver Falls, PA) was an honorable mention selection. Bryan Hill (Brecksville, OH) was named to the AMC All-Freshman team after posting 9.6 points and a total of 68 treys in his first collegiate season.

For the women, in addition to posting a school record 24 victories and capturing the AMC tournament title, Geneva had several solid individual performances. Allyson Clarke (Georgetown, PA) led the way with an AMC North first team selection. Clarke scored her 1000th career point in Geneva′s game against Mid-America Nazarene at the NAIA national tournament. For the season, Clarke led the Golden Tornadoes with 15.5 points and 9.4 rebounds per game. Senior guard Jackie Anthony (Rochester, PA) was a second team selection with 10.4 points per game and a team best 4.7 assists. Honorable mention selections included Ruth Dobos (Meadville, PA) and Kyle Kittner (Beaver Falls, PA).

On the men′s side, Point Park′s Chivas Whipple was the player of the year, while Daemen′s Germany Jackson won the award for the women.
