Geneva Falls to Alderson-Broaddus

Beaver Falls, PA - Geneva′s baseball team fell behind early and a late offensive surge proved to be too little, too late as the Golden Tornadoes fell to Alderson-Broaddus 10-5 in a non-conference tilt. Geneva′s overall record fell to 14-12 on the young season.

Alderson-Broaddus posted three runs in the second inning and ultimately took a 8-0 lead into the sixth inning. Geneva posted five total runs in the sixth and seventh innings to pull within a three runs, but the offense could not generate anything else the rest of the way.

Nick Phillips started and was saddled with the loss after 3 2/3 innings of work. Offensively, Tadd Eyster posted a perfect 4-4 day and he was on base all five plate appearances. Matt Collela collected a pair of hits as part of Geneva′s ten hit attack.

Rob Arata′s single in the seventh inning plate a pair of runs and brought his career hit total to 199, just one hit behind Geneva′s all-time record of 200.

Arata will have a chance to break the mark on Tuesday when Geneva hosts Bethany College at 33rd Street for a single nine-inning, non-conference game.
