Mash Fest, Geneva Rolls Up 24 Runs Against Bethany

"Arata Breaks Hits Record"

Beaver Falls, PA - It was a record breaking day at 33rd Street Field for Geneva senior Rob Arata. With his three hits, Arata moved into first place on Geneva′s all-time hits list. Arata′s three hits were a part of Geneva′s offensive on slaught of 21 hits in a 24-5 victory over Bethany College. Geneva′s record improved to 15-12 on the season with the victory.

Geneva scored 11 runs in the first two innings and continued to pour on the offense for the next nine innings. Mike Bruno had two hits and four RBI′s, while Dan DeMarco enjoyed a 4-5 day and a team best six RBI′s. Tadd Eyster and Andy Hiskey had three hits a piece and the Golden Tornadoes clubbed a total of four home runs in the game.

Mike Lehman pitched five innings to pick up the victory. He have up seven hits and struck out three. Justin Montgomery got the save with four innings of work and allowed just three hits in his outing.

Geneva is scheduled to play a four-game series against Notre Dame College that opens with a doubleheader in Ohio on Thursday.
