Eight is Enough, Geneva Track Team Brings Home Eight Titles

Pittsburgh, PA - Competing at the Carnegie Mellon University track and field triangular, Geneva′s men and women brought home eight first place titles, including six on the women′s side and two more for the men.

In men′s action, Brian Wilson took first place in the 110 meter hurdles. Wilson ran a 16.00 flat to take the top spot. Teammate Andrew Foxenberg won the 3000 meter steeplechase in a time of 9:52.7. Finally, Akambe Annankra had a pair of third place finishes in the high jump and triple jump.

The women′s team ruled the day for the Golden Tornadoes with six first place finishes. Kristen Anderson won the pole vault event with a height of 9-0 ¼ ft. Brittany Conzo won the 100 meter dash in 13.40, while distance runner and national qualifier Demetria Koutsourais won the 3000 meter event in 10:49.64.

Running the 3000 meter steeplechase for the first time, Susan Fletcher won the event with a time of 11:53.61, which was just six seconds shy of a national qualifying time. Teammate Marsha Miller finished second in the steeplechase.

Geneva′s women′s relay teams enjoyed a banner day winning both the 4 x 100 relay and the 4 x 400 relay. The 4 x 400 was anchored by Tiffany Bear, who overcame a 50 meter deficit with a 58.9 anchor time.
