BEAVER FALLS, Pa. - Renowned philosopher Dr. Nicholas Wolterstorff will give the Dr. Byron I. Bitar Memorial Lecture Series in Philosophy at Geneva College on April 25 & 26, 2007. The title for Dr. Wolterstorff′s lectures is Love and Justice.
Dr. Wolterstorff has had a distinguished career as a scholar, professor and writer. He has published extensively in the area of justice and political philosophy, and his work in epistemology has helped shape the perspective known as Reformed Epistemology. Dr. Wolterstorff has given the Wilde Lectures at Oxford University, the Gifford Lectures at St. Andrews University and the Stone Lectures at Princeton. He has served as President of both the American Philosophical Association and the Society of Christian Philosophy.
Dr. Wolterstorff will give three lectures in the series on Love and Justice. These are entitled: "Agape in Contemporary Christian Ethics," "Agapism′s Difficulty with Justice" and "Justice-Alert Love."
On Wednesday evening Dr. Shawn Floyd of Malone College and Dr. Robert Frazier of Geneva College will give responses to Dr. Wolterstorff′s lectures.
