Baseball Team Rolls to Sixth Straight Victory

Beaver Falls, PA - Geneva′s baseball team can do no wrong. The Golden Tornadoes won their sixth straight on Thursday with an impressive 15-6 victory over cross-town rival Penn State Beaver. Geneva struck for one run in the first inning and tacked on four more in the bottom of the third. After the Lions grabbed a pair of runs in the fourth, Geneva wasted no time in opening the game wide up with four more runs in the fourth. Phil Shallenberger made his first collegiate start on the mound an pitched five innings to earn the victory. Offensively, Mike Bruno, who was named the AMC player of the week last week, reached base four times and scored four runs to spark the offense. Matt Colella launched his sixth homer of the year with a three-run blast in the third inning. Justin Montgomery, who came on to finish the game on the mound in the ninth, was also solid at the plate with three hits.

Geneva′s four-run fourth inning featured six singles, including consecutive RBI base hits from Dan DeMarco, Justin Montgomery, Andy Lubich and Andy Hiskey. Hiskey, a Beaver Falls high school product, finished the day with base hits.

Geneva will begin a four-game non-conference series with Seton Hill on Friday with a home doubleheader. On Saturday, Geneva will travel to Greensburg to take on the Griffins in another twinbill.
