BEAVER FALLS, Pa. —Thanks to the Wolves Club of Aliquippa, it's a little easier for Megan Stitzel to attend college this fall. The Wolves Club presented a $2,000 scholarship at its 54th Annual Scholarship Award Dinner on Tuesday, June 5, to the Aliquippa resident. Stitzel graduated from Aliquippa High School and will attend Geneva College in the fall. She plans to major in biology and hopes to go to med school after finishing her undergraduate degree.
In 1953, the Wolves Club established a formal scholarship whereby each den is required to help maintain at least one student in college. The awards are given to deserving high school students regardless of race, color, creed, national origin or gender. The Aliquippa den has established endowments at four local colleges, including Geneva College, Robert Morris University, CCBC Foundation and Penn State – Beaver. Since its origin, the Wolves have granted over $4.6 million in scholarships.
While in high school, Megan Stitzel participated in DECA, Spanish Club, Health Careers Club, Student Council, Aliquippa Youth Council, Penn State Talent Search, National Honor Society, Principal's List and various other activities. Her hobbies include reading, watching movies, writing, drawing, painting, hanging out with friends and riding with her dad on his motorcycle.
