This summer marks the beginning of an exciting time for Geneva′s campus. With the majority of prep work completed, PennDot′s reconstruction of Route 18 can finally begin.  Lindy Paving, the highway contractor for PennDot's Route 18 project, has already blocked off 29th, 30th and 31st streets, as well as the part of Fourth Avenue that runs between them.  The car wash was demolished on Thursday, May 17, and trees and brush were cleared to make way for the work to be done.

Since then, Lindy and its subcontractors have begun heavy equipment grading work along the length of the proposed road location and, for safety reasons, they will erect fencing to prevent vehicles and pedestrians from crossing the work area.

Visitors of Geneva College can expect to notice some differences in crosswalk locations. Lindy has set up a specific crossing location that runs across Fourth Avenue at 32nd Street and then along the north end of the Alumni Parking Lot. It is very important that pedestrians use this crosswalk, for their own safety.

Many other changes, both big and small, will be occurring on Route 18 and the Geneva College campus in upcoming weeks and months. Students, alumni, faculty, staff, neighbors and friends of the college are encouraged to check www.geneva.edu frequently to stay informed of changes.
