Four-year starter at quarterback, Justin Sciarro leads the class of Geneva student-athletes that were honored this year as NAIA Daktronics Scholar-Athletes. Award winners were comprised of juniors and seniors that maintained at least a 3.5 cumulative GPA.

Beaver Falls, PA – The term student-athlete has never rung more true up and down the halls of Geneva′s athletic department. The NAIA released is final Scholar-Athlete lists from this past school year and 11 of Geneva′s 13 varsity sports were represented with a total of 23 athletes being recognized on a national level.

The NAIA requires Scholar-Athletes to maintain at least a 3.5 GPA and be considered either a junior or senior at their respective institutions. In addition, award winners should have made a significant contribution to his or her athletic program during the season.

“These award winners are a direct reflection of the hard work that is going into this athletic program, both on and off of the field,” said Geneva athletic director Geno Demarco. “Our coaches have done a tremendous job with these kids to help them keep on track academically and our men and women have bought into our philosophy in a big way. We are so proud of what these kids have accomplished and the entire Geneva community should be extremely excited about what is taking place in our department.”

The NAIA, the organization that Geneva has been a part of since its inception in 1940, released scholar-athlete award winners in every varsity sport that is sanctioned at the national level. For Geneva, 11 of its 13 varsity sports had at least one representative to be honored by the NAIA. This will mark the final season of competition for Geneva as a member of the NAIA as it embarks on a new era of athletics next year as a member of NCAA Division III and the Presidents′ Athletic Conference.
