A new energy as palpable as the humid August air has swept Geneva′s campus as a result of the recent changes, return of the student body and an especially large number of new faces at the college.

Dr. Ken Carson, vice president for academic affairs, noted the encouraging enrollment numbers as well as a variety of changes and improvements that are adding to the anticipation of the new school year.

"I am excited to have such a large group of incoming freshman and transfers, and thankful for the good work being done by the enrollment staff," Carson says.

425 new students arrived on campus to begin their orientation on Tuesday, August 21 with the rest of the student body set to return before the start of class on Monday, August 27.

The excitement does not stop with increased enrollment, though. In addition to new students, Geneva is happy to announce new additions to the faculty and staff. The campus community is proud to welcome Bill Pearce, Denise Murphy-Gerber and Amy Russin to the business and accounting department. Emmanuel Ayee and Cassandra Zinchini will join the communication and English and humanities departments respectively. The campus body also welcomes John Doncevic as the new library director.

New faces will not be the only change on campus. Richardson House, a building originally used as the president′s residence, will now be where 10 upperclassmen women call home. Geneva students will also watch their GTs compete on a new synthetic playing surface on Reeves Field.

"These additions and improvements should make for an exciting year," says Carson. "I am thankful for the gifts God has recently given this school and anxious to see how God will bless our students this coming year."
