OFFENSIVE EXPLOSION LEADS TO FIFTH STRAIGHT WIN

Beaver Falls, PA - It took a while for Geneva′s offense to get churning on Monday, but once it started, it never looked back in a 5-1 victory over Pitt-Greensburg. The Golden Tornadoes won for the fifth consecutive time and improved their overall record to 5-1 on the season.

Geneva started slowly, but still managed to get the only goal of the first half on Scott Swartley′s fourth goal of the season on a feed from Jonah Creasy. Leading by one after halftime, Geneva got a goal less than two minutes into the second half on the first of two straight goals from freshman Russ Picard. Picard scored his second and third goals of the season to stretch Geneva′s lead to 3-0.

Freshman Bruce Fox added another goal in the 73rd minute and Coert Voorhees closed out the scoring with his second marker of the season. UPG avoided the shut-out with the game′s final goal in the 84th minute. Starting goalkeeper Sam McCracken played the first 75 minutes and extended his scoreless streak to 458 consecutive minutes without allowing a goal.

Geneva out shot Pitt-Greensburg 18-9, which marks the sixth straight game that Geneva has done just that against its opponents. The Golden Tornadoes will come back home on Saturday night to host Franciscan University and try to extend the winning streak to six games.
