HAPPY HOMECOMING, GENEVACRUISES PAST CARLOW

Beaver Falls, PA - The recipe for success for Geneva′s women′s soccer team in 2007 simply reads play as many home games as possible. The Golden Tornadoes moved their overall record to 2-3, including a 2-0 mark on their home field, with an impressive 4-0 victory over Carlow University on Thursday night. Carlow dropped its fourth straight match to start the season.

Geneva controlled the match from start to finish and out shot the Celtics by an overwhelming 21-3, including 13 shots on goal. Four of those shots found the back of the net, including Jenna Witkowski′s first two goals of the season. Witkowski opened the scoring in the ninth minute on a feed from Nicole Beadling. Beadling picked up her second assist of the night on Amanda Caler′s tally in the 15th minute. Wikowski struck again in the 40th minute to give Geneva a commanding 3-0 lead at the half.

Melissa Brooks scored her first goal of the season in the 75th minute to close out the scoring with an assist going to Caler. Although Geneva goalkeeper Amanda Weaver did not get much action, she did turn away three Carlow shots to pick up her first shut-out of the season and improve her personal record to 2-1 on the season.

Geneva will travel to Buffalo, NY on Saturday to take on Medialle College before visiting Hiram on Monday. The Golden Tornadoes will return to Beaver Falls next Wednesday to host another former AMC opponent in Walsh University.
