Waynesburg, PA - Oh how good it must feel for co-head coaches Wendy Smith and Curt Conser to come away from a PAC tri-match with a pair of victories. After struggling through the first three weeks of the season without a victory, it appears as though Geneva′s volleyball team has turned the corner. On Wednesday night, Geneva won a pair of 3-0 decisions over Thiel and Waynesburg. The victories improved Geneva′s overall record to 4-13, including wins in its last three matches. Even more exciting was that the two victories marked the first two wins of the year against PAC foes. Geneva had dropped a pair of matches to PAC opponents earlier in the year, but on Wednesday night, the Golden Tornadoes got things clicking on all cylinders.

Playing at Rudy Marisa Fieldhouse in Waynesburg, PA, Geneva faced off against Thiel in the first match of the night. Geneva cruised past the Tomcats by scores of 30-16, 30-22, 30-17. Brandi Snavely helped lead the offense with 42 assists and a team best six service aces. At the net, Adriane Blake threw down 17 kills while Sarah Bruck chipped in with 13 kills. Elizabeth Fisher led the defense with 24 digs, while Blair Bruce was solid at the net with five blocks.

Geneva took on the home standing Yellow Jackets from Waynesburg in the night cap and once again came away victorious in three straight games by scores of 31-29, 30-21, 30-22. Bruck and Blake combined for 31 kills, while Snavely fed the duo all night with 43 assists. Faith Guerra played solidly in the night cap with a team best 20 digs.

The Golden Tornadoes will enjoy an extended break away from competition until they travel to Bethany College on October 6th for a PAC quad-match, which includes matches against Bethany, Thomas More and Saint Vincent. Geneva will finally return to Metheny Fieldhouse on October 10th when it hosts Washington & Jefferson. Geneva will have started the season with one home match in its first 20 matches.
