Even though this is Geneva College′s first season in the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA), Geneva Football Coach Geno DeMarco has been nominated as a Liberty Mutual Coach of the Year in the NCAA Division III.

Through the nomination for this prestigious award, NCAA coaches from across the country are recognized in each of the four divisions. This award is the basis of ABC′s television program “Road to the Coach of the Year,” which follows a motorcoach tour to a variety of football destinations across the country.

The Liberty Mutual Coach of the Year, according to organizers, is “awarded to the college football coach who best demonstrates responsibility, integrity and excellence on and off the field. Team records, player statistics and community involvement are just a few of the criteria reviewed during the selection process.”

Joe Onderko, executive director of the Presidents′ Athletic Conference (PAC), notes that there are two PAC coaches in the competition. “It is very exciting to have two coaches from the Presidents' Athletic Conference  - Geno DeMarco of Geneva and Jack Leipheimer of Thiel.

“For Coach DeMarco, the success he is having in Geneva's first year as an NCAA member is certainly a large reason for his popularity.  I encourage all PAC fans to support their teams and coaches in this program."

The winner in each division will be chosen using a combination of fan and selection committee votes..
