Geneva College students once again showed their commitment to service at the Red Cross blood drive held last week on campus. 125 Students, faculty and staff donated 109 productive pints of blood—providing enough blood products to save 327 lives.

According to Geneva′s nurse Connie Erwin, Tuesday, Oct. 2 was the first time that Geneva went over the 100-pint mark. “Yesterday representatives for the Red Cross had 30 other blood drives across six states,” says Erwin, “and Geneva College far exceeded any other of the drives. What an example of love and service!”

The Red Cross has held blood drives at Geneva since 1980. According to Red Cross Representative Pat Miller, Geneva College is one of the places that the organization can count on to consistently donate blood.

“We go to a lot of colleges, [covering] 100 counties in 6 states, and sometimes collecting blood is like being on a rollercoaster—it is a very difficult job to do. What makes Geneva College stand out is that we can count on Geneva every time to provide a certain number of units of blood.”
