DOUBLE ZERO IN KENTUCKYFOR GENEVASOCCER

Crestview Hills, KY- It was a long day for Geneva′s men′s and women′s soccer teams on Wednesday. Both teams were held scoreless in losses to Thomas More. In the first match, the women dropped a 3-0 decision to fall to 2-12-1 on the season. In the finale, Geneva′s men fell 2-0 and saw its record dip to 10-5 on the season.

On a day that started with both teams boarding the bus at 8 am and ended with the teams getting back to College Hill well after midnight, the action in the middle was certainly not worth the trip.

Geneva′s women continued to have its offensive struggles as it got shut-out for the ninth time in 2007. Trailing just 1-0 at the half to first place Thomas More, the Golden Tornadoes lost starting goalkeeper Amber Weaver to a concussion in the second half. The Saints managed to post a pair of second half goals to stretch the lead to 3-0.

Geneva′s men have not experienced offensive struggles for most of the season; however, the Golden Tornadoes did drop their third game in the last four on Wednesday. Both Thomas More goals came in the second half and were more than enough to make the long trip home from Kentucky, even longer for both Geneva teams.

The men and women will try to get back into the win column on Saturday when they host a doubleheader against Thiel College beginning with the women′s match at 5 pm. Both teams will close out the regular season with three straight home matches beginning with the doubleheader this weekend.
