Beaver Falls, Pa. – Michael Cromartie, distinguished spokesman for the relationship between religious faith and political conviction, will speak as part of the 2007-2008 Colloquia Series at Geneva College, scheduled on Thursday, Nov. 1 and Friday, Nov. 2 in Skye Lounge.
Cromartie is the vice president of the Ethics and Public Policy Center in Washington, D.C., an organization established in 1976 in order to clarify and reinforce the bond between the Judeo-Christian moral tradition, and domestic and foreign policy issues. Cromartie also directs the Evangelicals in Civic Life and the Media and Religion programs for the Center. President George W. Bush recently appointed him chair of the U.S. Commission on International Religious Freedom.
Cromartie is regularly published in publications such as Books & Culture, The Washington Post, The Washington Times and World. He is the editor of 16 books, most recently Religion and Politics in America: A Conversation and A Public Faith: Evangelicals and Civic Engagement. Cromartie has also been interviewed on numerous television and radio programs, including NPR, CNN, ABC News, PBS and the NewsHour with Jim Lehrer. He is currently serving as an advisory editor for Christianity Today and as an adjunct professor at Reformed Theological Seminary.
His first lecture, the Contemporary Landscape of Religious Freedom, will be held Thursday, Nov. 1 at 7 p.m. in Skye Lounge. The second in the series, Red God, Blue God: Media and Religion in America, is on Friday, Nov. 2 at 10:10 a.m. in Skye Lounge. There is no fee for admission.
