OFFENSIVE FRUSTRATION CONTINUES WITH HARD FOUGHT

2-0 LOSS TO GROVECITY

Beaver Falls, PA- The questions continue to mount for Geneva′s women′s soccer team and the answers continue to be harder and harder. Geneva dropped a 2-0 decision to Grove City on Wednesday as it saw its current winless streak reach 12 games. During that streak, Geneva has been shut-out eight times. For the second match in a row, Geneva played a solid 90 minutes, but once again was unable to generate any goal production and fell to 2-14-1 on the season.

Both teams played to a 0-0 tie after 45 minutes of play. In fact, it took until the 50th minute for Grove City to finally solve back-up goalkeeper Lauren Londino. Making her first start of the season because of an injury to starter Amber Weaver, Londino turned away ten shots, several of which were of the spectacular nature in the first half.

Grove City put the game away with an insurance tally in the 77th minute of play. The shots on goal were one sided with the Wolverines controlling those numbers to the tune of 22-6, but Geneva did get several scoring chances that did not get cashed in during the second half.

Geneva will close out the regular season at home on Friday when it hosts Bethany College at 5 pm. Three Geneva seniors, Nicole Beadling, Abby Young and Jenna Witkowski will be honored in their final game for the Golden Tornadoes.
