BLAKE AND SNAVELY CLAIM POST-SEASON

VOLLEYBALL HONORS IN PAC

Beaver Falls, PA - Geneva′s women′s volleyball team enjoyed a dramatic turnaround in the 2007 season. After starting the year with 11 consecutive losses, the Golden Tornadoes won 17 of their final 24 matches to finish the season with a 17-18 overall record. A big part of the turnaround was due to the efforts by a pair of newcomers to the Geneva program in 2007. Freshman Adriane Blake and sophomore transfer Brandi Snavely paced Geneva′s turnaround and were so rewarded by the Presidents′ Athletic Conference this week in their post-season voting.

Because Geneva is still in its NCAA Division III provisional status, players are not yet eligible for All-Conference consideration. However, the PAC coaches do vote for coach′s honors and both Blake and Snavely were among those who were honored.

Blake, a 5′10 outside hitter, led Geneva with 489 kills (4.14/gm). She also had an impressive .256 hitting percentage. Blake led the Golden Tornadoes with 66 service aces (0.56/gm) and was also effective on defense with 494 digs.

Snavely, a 5′7 setter, paced Geneva′s offense all season with her setting abilities and team leadership. Snavely posted 1325 assists (10.86/gm), which was good enough to be among the leaders in the Presidents′ Athletic Conference. Snavely was equally as effective on the service line with 57 aces (0.47/gm).

Geneva ended its season with a five-match winning streak including a dramatic five-game victory over Saint Vincent in the season finale last Friday night.
