STREAK HITS FOUR WITH VICTORY OVER CARLOW

Beaver Falls, PA - Geneva′s women have finished the first two legs of its three games in three nights streak with the most recent victory coming on Tuesday night over Carlow University by the score of 84-64. The victory improved Geneva′s record to 4-0, which is just one victory away from the school record of five wins to start a season that was set 20 years ago.

For the second straight night, Geneva started a bit sluggish and the offense committed 10 first half turnovers, but once again the shooting from the Golden Tornadoes kept them in it as they shot 50% from the field in the first 20 minutes. Geneva led 39-34 at halftime and they cruised from there. It was once again the Renee Rawding show as the junior from Blackhawk High School poured in 26 points to improve upon her team leading average of 21.7 points per game. Rawding was 4-7 from three point range and a solid 11-18 from the field. Allyson Clarke chipped in with 15 points, while Michawn Rich added 12 points and a team best nine rebounds.

Leading 44-38 with 17:20 to play in the second half, Geneva went on a 16-7 run that stretched the lead to 60-45 at the 12:06 mark capped by a Lauren Uranker three point field goal. Geneva led by as many as 25 points at 72-47 and cruised down the stretch for the 20 point victory.

Carlow got 17 points each from Jacqueline Muir and Lauren Roscoe in a losing effort as the Celtics fell to 2-5 on the young season.

Geneva will be right back in action on Wednesday night when it hosts Franciscan University at 7 pm. The Golden Tornadoes open play against the PAC on Saturday afternoon when they host Grove City College.
