GENEVACOMPLETES TRIFECTA WITH RECORD

TYING VICTORY

Beaver Falls, PA - Geneva women′s head coach Ron Galbreath was concerned about putting his team in a stretch of three games in three days. However, Galbreath saw his Golden Tornadoes sweep the three-game span and improve to 5-0 to start the season after a 77-24 victory over Franciscan on Wednesday night. The 5-0 start tied the school record for most victories to start a season, a record that was set 20 years ago.

On Wednesday, Geneva′s defense shined again by holding Franciscan to just eight field goals in the game and held the Barons to an 18% shooting mark from the field. The Golden Tornadoes opened up an early lead of 15-2 and never looked back. Geneva took a 38-8 lead into the half and quickly extended that with the first nine points of the second half to put the game away.

Geneva featured a balanced scoring attack with ten players finding the scoring column led by 11 points each from Renee Rawding and Valerie Hamilton. Other double figure scorers included Allyson Clarke and Rachel Barry, who scored ten points each. Clarke collected her second double-double of the season with 11 rebounds to lead the Golden Tornadoes.

Geneva out rebounded Franciscan by a decisive 43-31, including 18 offensive rebounds. Geneva also did outstanding work from the foul line as the Golden Tornadoes connected on 14-17 from the charity stripe to improve upon their already impressive 78% mark as a team coming into the game.

Geneva will put its perfect record on the line in search of school record 6th consecutive victory to start a season when it hosts Grove City on Saturday afternoon. It will be the first match-up against a PAC foe this season. Next week, Geneva will face

W & J and Bethany in PAC competition.
