World-class music ensemble Chatham Baroque will perform at Geneva College on Wednesday, Nov. 28 at 7:30 p.m. in the John White Chapel. Chatham Baroque uses period musical instruments modeled after actual Baroque instruments. The trio's repertoire includes a variety of types of European music from the Baroque era (1600-1750), including Eastern European and Celtic music.

Chatham Baroque, which is the only professional baroque ensemble of its kind in Western Pennsylvania, has been both nationally and internationally recognized. Two of their CDs, The Scotch Humour and Henry Purcell: Sonatas and Theatre Music, received five-star ratings from the European magazine Goldberg. Chatham Baroque continually ranks in the Pittsburgh Post Gazette′s “Top 50 Cultural Forces.”

Lauded for its artful interpretation and dazzling technique, Chatham Baroque regularly performs across the nation and is the Ensemble-in-Residence for WQED-FM. Early Music America reports, “Chatham Baroque is masterful ... The ensemble plays with great tonal beauty and stands up to any ensemble from across the Atlantic.”

The ensemble includes musicians Julie Andrijeski,Patricia Halverson and Scott Pauley. They have all studied music at premier conservatories and are highly acclaimed. Chatham Baroque is directed by Annette Romain and assisted by Sara Emily Kuntz.

Geneva′s Humanities Program, Music Department, Colloquia Series and Admissions Office are sponsoring the performance as a joint effort to bring Geneva′s students and faculty into conversation with the cultural leaders and shapers of our time.

Admission is open to the public. Tickets are $3 for students, $5 for adults and available at the door or by reservation by calling 724-847-6620 or e-mailing lsymmond@geneva.edu.
