ZAC ATTACK, NORTHEN LIFTS GENEVA
PAST W & J

Beaver Falls, PA - Zac Northen was anxious to put his last game at Metheny Fieldhouse behind him. The senior forward was held to just two points in a one-point loss to Grove City last Saturday. On Wednesday night, Northen lifted his teammates to a second half comeback victory over Washington & Jefferson by the score of 79-69. The victory ended Geneva′s short two-game skid as Northen put up 20 points on a perfect 6-6 night from the field.

"Zac played huge for us tonight and we really needed that lift," said head coach Jeff Santarsiero. "I thought our second group really played well tonight with some of our top line guys in foul trouble." Leading scorer Greg McDivitt was in foul trouble for most of the night and finished with a season low seven points. Northen did have some offensive help from sophomore guard Bryan Hill. Hill scored a team high 21 points, all of which came on seven three point fields on just 11 attempts. "Bryan kept us in the game in the first half," said Santarsiero. "We didn′t have much going right early and Bryan got us back in the game."

Despite Hill′s first half heroics, Geneva trailed W & J 35-30 at the break. In fact, Geneva trailed by as many as eight points in the second half, but Northen and company found a way to overcome the deficit in the second half.

"This was a big win for our guys after two tough losses last week. We showed a lot of character and it really paid off."

W & J was led by 22 points from Albert Varacalo and 18 points from Wahab Owolabi. The President′s fell to 3-2 on the young season.

Geneva will take to the road on Saturday as it will travel to Bethany College for another PAC challenge. The Golden Tornadoes return home on December 15th to battle Penn State Beaver.
