URANKER HONORED OFF THE COURT, CONTINUES
TO SHINE ON IT

Beaver Falls, PA - It has been quite an eventful couple of days for senior guard Lauren Uranker. On Wednesday night, Uranker′s jump shot with just nine seconds remaining in the game against Washington & Jefferson proved to be the game winner. On Thursday, she was named the PAC SAAC (Student-Athlete Advisory Committee) Scholar-Athlete of the month for November.

Each month, SAAC members from each PAC institution are eligible to nominate two junior or senior varsity student athletes (one male, one female) from their school. All PAC Scholar-Athlete nominations must be in season, have a cumulative GPA of 3.0 or higher and be actively involved in their campus community.

To say Uranker qualifies would be a vast understatement. Not only has Uranker been instrumental in helping Geneva′s women′s basketball team to its best start in school history, she has a 3.8 GPA as a Business Finance major.

Uranker has not exactly spent her last two summers like a normal college student. While many of her classmates are taking time off or working a summer job, Uranker was busy traveling to Jamaica to help rebuild houses for some less fortunate people. Uranker has twice visited Jamaica on mission trips and has every intention of returning again.

Uranker exploded onto the Geneva women′s basketball scene last year as she helped guide the Golden Tornadoes to their first ever trip to the NAIA national tournament with an overall record of 24-5, the most single season victories in school history. She averaged 8.2 points per game and knocked down a team best 58 three-point field goals. This year, Uranker is averaging close to ten points and five rebounds per game.
