NINE IS FINE; GENEVAREMAINS UNBEATEN AS
GALBREATH REACHES 100 WINS AT
GENEVA

Beaver Falls, PA - Ron Galbreath entered the season needing nine victories to reach 100 wins in his six year career with Geneva′s women′s basketball program. While it was understood Galbreath would reach the milestone sometime this season, few people thought he would get his ninth win in the ninth game of the season. As it turned out, Galbreath watched his Golden Tornadoes move to a perfect 9-0 with an impressive 75-51 victory over Penn State Beaver. The Lions fell to 7-3, including a two of those losses coming at the hands of Geneva.

Renee Rawding, Allyson Clarke and Michawn Rich led the onslaught for the Golden Tornadoes as the big three dominated play in helping Geneva to its ninth straight victory, just three wins shy of the school record for consecutive victories. Rawding posted a game high 20 points, while Rich added 16 and Clarke had 14 points. Rich posted her third double-double of the season with a team high 12 rebounds.

Geneva′s defense, which entered the day as the top ranked unit in the PAC, held the Lions to just 33% shooting from the field and to just 51 points, which is right at the team defensive average for the season. Queznay Hubbard, Penn State′s leading scorer, was held to 11 points on 3-21 shooting from the field. Penn State managed just 2-17 from three point range, while the Golden Tornadoes knocked down six treys, four of which came from Rawding.

Geneva will enjoy a three-week lay-off for the holidays before traveling to Pitt-Greensburg on January 3rd. The Golden Tornadoes will return to Metheny Fieldhouse on January 5th to host Saint Vincent College.
