FUN IN THE SUN "shine" STATE FOR GENEVAMEN

Kissimmee, FL - Geneva′s men′s basketball team escaped the cold Western Pennsylvania temperatures this week to play a couple games in the sunshine state of Florida over the weekend. Despite having two weeks off from its last game action, Geneva did not take much time to shake off the rust in a 103-66 victory over Florida Christian College. The Golden Tornadoes won their second straight and improved to 6-4 on the season.

"We didn′t start the way we had hoped," said head coach Jeff Santarsiero. "It took some time for the guys to find their legs, but our second group really did a great job getting us going in the right direction." Santarsiero has implemented a five-man substitute rotation in recent games and it has worked brilliantly in the last two games. "We were really able to pressure them late in the first half, which proved to be the difference in the game.

Geneva was able to put together a 13-4 run in the final five minutes of the first half and then scored the first ten points of the second half to extend the lead to 24 points. "Prior to that run, we were not very consistent on the offensive end of the court, but our defense helped create some offensive chances."
Geneva got a game high 18 points from Kyle Frohnapple off the bench. Greg McDivitt scored 17 points and Bryan Hill added 12 points in the victory as every Geneva player got some minutes in the lopsided victory.

"It was good to get everyone a chance to get some game action," said Santarsiero. "Because we play again on Saturday, we needed to save our legs a little bit and the way we pulled away in the second half really allowed us to do that for our starters."

Geneva will get right back into action on Saturday as it travels to Webber International for a 3 pm tip-off. The Golden Tornadoes will return to Beaver Falls early next week to prepare for their home game against Saint Vincent College on January 5th.
