During Christmas break, most American college students travel home to spend time with their families. A group of Geneva College students, however, are doing something a little bit different. They are traveling to the Middle East as part of a class on the archaeology and geography of Israel.

According to Geneva Professor Scott Shidemantle, "It′s been my experience that going to Israel and visiting the actual sites make the stories of the Bible come alive. This is my hope for the students who will be traveling to Israel as part of this trip."

Three faculty members and 27 students will make the trek to Israel on Friday, Dec. 28 and return Tuesday, Jan. 8. Throughout the fall semester, the class has been meeting to study specific archaeological sites as well as the archaeology in general, in light of practical implications for reading and studying Scriptures.

This course is designed to take place during the fall semester of off numbered years.
