SECOND HALF WOES, GENEVABLOWS 14-POINT
LEAD AT HIRAM

Hiram, OH - Geneva′s men′s basketball team hadn′t met Hiram College since 1915 and on Wednesday night the Golden Tornadoes may have taken basketball back that far in the second half after watching Hiram erase a 14-point deficit en route to a 113-95 final score. The Golden Tornadoes fell to 7-6, while Hiram improve to 4-8 after the Terriers shot 57% in the final 20 minutes and out scored Geneva 66-41 in the second half.

The Golden Tornadoes had things going their way in the first half after a 54% shooting effort of their own and a 54-47 lead heading into the locker room. However, the second half turned out to be a different story as Geneva made just 13 field goals and watched Hiram light it up with seven treys in the final 20 minutes.

Hiram′s bench out scored Geneva 55-33, including Chuck Williams, who managed seven treys on his own and 23 points in 23 minutes off the bench. For Geneva, Bryan Hill knocked down four three point field goals and led the Golden Tornadoes with 17 points. Zach Northen added 16 points while Mike Ross and Greg McDivitt each chipped in with 12 points. Geneva turned the ball over 19 times and was out rebounded by a much smaller Hiram team by 11 rebounds. "This was a very discouraging loss," said head coach Jeff Santarsiero. "We didn′t do much right and we paid the price. We have to simply be better on the defensive end of the court and give a better effort all around. This was not a good night for Geneva basketball."

The Golden Tornadoes will try to turn things around on Saturday night as the road warriors continue to work away from Metheny Fieldhouse. Six of the next seven games will be on the road including a date with Waynesburg on Saturday night. Geneva will host Thiel a week from Saturday for the only remaining home game in January.
