REBOUNDING IN A BIG WAY, GENEVA

FINDS ITS OFFENSE IN VICTORY OVER THIEL

Beaver Falls, PA - What a difference four days can make? Geneva′s women′s basketball team was fresh off its worst performance of the season in a loss to Thomas More on Wednesday when it scored a season low 34 points. On Saturday night, the Golden Tornadoes found their lost offense and found a way to quickly rebound from that setback with an impressive 80-44 victory over Thiel College. With the victory, Geneva improved to 13-2, while the Tomcats dropped to 6-8 on the campaign.

Geneva was never seriously threatened in the game as the Golden Tornadoes started quickly and kept their foot on the gas all night. Geneva scored the first six points and extended its lead to 18-6 with 12:44 remaining in the half. The Golden Tornadoes took their biggest lead of the half into the break with a 41-20 margin.

Thiel was handed much of the same misery in the second half as the Golden Tornadoes led by as many as 43 points at 80-37 with just a few minutes remaining in the contest.

Geneva′s disappearing offense reemerged on Saturday with a 49% shooting mark from the field. Allyson Clarke led the charge with 18 points and 11 rebounds for her ninth double-double of the season. Renee Rawding added 15 points, while Michawn Rich posted eight points and 11 rebounds.

Thiel′s Amber Bodrick, who came into the game averaging over 20 points, was held to just 10 points and didn′t convert her first field goal until midway through the second half. Geneva′s defense shined again by holding Thiel to just 17 field goals, including just seven in the first half.

Geneva takes to the road for three straight away from Metheny Field house, including two next week against Westminster and Grove City. The Golden Tornadoes return home on February 2nd to host Bethany College.
