Beaver Falls, PA - Geneva′s men′s basketball team was trying to avoid its first three-game losing streak of the season on Saturday night. Unfortunately, the Golden Tornadoes were facing first-place Bethany College and the Bison showed everyone inside of Metheny Fieldhouse why they are sitting a top the Presidents′ Athletic Conference with an impressive 87-62 victory over the Golden Tornadoes. Geneva fell to the .500 mark for the season at 10-10, while Bethany improved to 13-7 on the season.

Geneva′s final lead of the game came at the 9:19 mark of the first half when Greg McDivitt′s jump shot gave the Golden Tornadoes a 24-21 lead. The Bison finished the half by scoring nine of the last 11 points to open a 45-37 lead after 20 minutes.

Twice Geneva cut the lead to six points in the second half could draw no closer. "We just didn′t have any defensive answers tonight," said head coach Jeff Santarsiero. "When it seemed like we were getting some momentum, they would knock down a big shot."

Bethany knocked down several big shots all night. In fact, the Bison finished the night with 16 three point field goals and were 55% from outside the arc for the game. Brody Jackson led the way with 21 points, including his 1000th career point. Geneva got a game high 23 points and 12 rebounds from Greg McDivitt for his eighth double-double of the season.

"Greg played well, but we just didn′t give him much support," said Santarsiero. "We need to find some other offensive options and right now we are just really struggling on both ends of the floor."

Geneva was a disturbing 1-23 from three-point range, and shot 42% from the field as a team. From outside the arc, Bethany out scored Geneva 48-3, which proved to be more than the difference in the game.

The Golden Tornadoes will attempt to get back on the winning track on Wednesday night when they travel to Latrobe to face-off against Saint Vincent College. The next home game will be February 13th when Geneva welcomes Waynesburg to Metheny Fieldhouse.
