ANOTHER HEARTBREAKER, GENEVADROPS
FOURTH STRAIGHT

Latrobe, PA - The scenario is the same, just the colors of the uniforms are changing for Geneva′s opponents. The Golden Tornadoes suffered through another difficult loss on Wednesday night as they came up on the short end of a 66-64 decision at Saint Vincent College. The loss was Geneva′s fourth straight and dropped the Golden Tornadoes under .500 for the first time all year at 10-11. Meanwhile, Saint Vincent won for the ninth straight game and improved to 17-3.

Saint Vincent′s victory certainly didn′t come easy as the Golden Tornadoes game them everything they could handle, and then some. Geneva took a 28-27 lead into halftime and started the second half in similar fashion. In fact, with less than 14 minutes to play, Geneva extended its lead to the biggest of the night at 44-36. With Saint Vincent′s leading scorer for the season, Ian McCullough, and its leading scorer on the night, BJ McGill, both on the bench with four fouls, the Golden Tornadoes were unable to extend the lead. In fact, by the time McCullough and McGill returned to the line-up, the Bearcats had clawed their way back into a tie with seven minutes remaining in regulation.

Saint Vincent took control of the game late and led by as many as eight points in the final three minutes. Geneva battled back to within a pair and it had the ball at the end of regulation. Bryan Hill′s three-point attempt from the corner bounced off the rim and Zac Northen′s desperation shot at the buzzer bounced out.

Justin Nardi played another inspiring game with a team best 19 points, to go along with five assists. Greg McDivitt got his 10th double-double of the season with 14 points and 12 rebounds.

McGill led Saint Vincent with 16 points, while Joey Butler chipped in with 13 points on just 3-15 shooting from the field.

The Golden Tornadoes will enjoy a rare weekend off before beginning the final stretch of four regular season games. Geneva will play three of those final games at home, including games with Waynesburg on Wednesday and Thomas More a week from Saturday at Metheny Fieldhouse.
