LOSING SLIDE ENDS IN IMPRESSIVE FASHION
Beaver Falls, PA - It has been a rough three-week stretch for Geneva′s men′s basketball program. Coming into Wednesday night′s action on a four-game losing skid, the Golden Tornadoes decided to take out their frustrations in a 95-62 drubbing over Waynesburg University. The victory moved Geneva back to the .500 mark at 11-11, while Waynesburg dropped to 8-14 on the season.
Geneva had suffered through four losses, two of which were by two points or less. On Wednesday, the Golden Tornadoes made sure the game would not come down to a dramatic finish. The Golden Tornadoes scored 12 of the first 14 points in the second half to take a commanding 62-28 lead with 17 minutes remaining in the game. Geneva cruised the rest of the way and led by as many as 40 points before handing the Yellow Jackets a 33-point loss.
A total of 13 Geneva players entered the scoring column led by the resurgence of Bryan Hill. Hill canned seven three-point field goals and finished with a game high 23 points. Geneva dominated play in every aspect, including the boards. The Golden Tornadoes had an astounding 57-23 advantage on the boards led by Rob Whitt′s eight rebounds. McDivitt and Zac Northen also pulled down seven boards in the victory.
