UPSET MINDED GENEVA FALLS SHORT, DROPS A PAIR IN KISSIMMEE

Kissimmee, FL - Geneva′s softball team knew going into its trip to Florida that it would see some of the best teams that NCAA Division III could throw at them. On Tuesday, the Golden Tornadoes got a taste of the big time as it went up against 2nd ranked Wartburg College at the Rebel Springs Games in Kissimmee, FL. Junior pitcher Ashley Archer was certainly up to the task as she allowed Wartburg′s powerful offense just four hits, but it turned out to be enough in a 1-0 victory in eight innings. Archer struck out five and walked just one in picked up her second loss of the season.

Geneva′s offense managed just three hits in the game, but did strand a pair of runners in scoring position in two of the last three innings. Wartburg, the pre-season ranked #2 team in the country, lost in the national semi-finals a year ago.

The Golden Tornadoes still could not find their offense in the night cap and suffered a 7-2 loss to Eastern Mennonite. Geneva watched EMU score four runs in the first three innings and it could not respond. Michawn Rich had two hits for the third time in the first four games. Jackie Anthony provided Geneva with an RBI triple in the seventh to avoid the shut-out. Anthony plated the second run on a wild pitch.

The Golden Tornadoes will look to get back into the win column on Wednesday with two more games at the Rebel Springs Games.
