WIN STREAK MOVES TO FIVE WITH SWEEP
OVER CHESTNUT HILL
Ft. Pierce, FL - Geneva′s baseball team saw its Florida trip end on an extremely high note with five consecutive victories to move to 5-3 on the season. On Monday morning, the Golden Tornadoes closed out their trip with a pair of victories over Chestnut Hill College by the scores of 2-1 and 10-1.
In game one, Matt Baer threw 5 1/3 innings to pick up his first collegiate victory. Justin Montgomery recorded the final out of the game to notch his third save of the trip. Ben Shallenberger was 2-2 with a sacrifice fly to lead the offensive attack.
Game two was not nearly as competitive as Geneva busted out the offensive sticks with seven players grabbing at least two hits. Jon Jurinko was 3-5, with a double and an RBI, while brother Joe Jurinko had a pair of hits and two runs scored. Joe Senko was 2-4 with three RBI′s, while teammates Joel Dille, Derek Sumner, Tadd Eyster and Andy Hiskey also came up with a pair of hits.
Matt Lehman threw five innings to pick up his first victory of the 2008 season. Geneva will return to Beaver Falls on Tuesday and will hope the spring thaw comes quickly as it is scheduled to host Hilbert College next Monday and Tuesday in a two-game series.
