SEASON ENDS WITH A LOSS, SENIOR TRIO
GOES OUT IN STYLE
Oakland City, IN - Geneva′s men′s basketball season came to an end on Thursday as the Golden Tornadoes dropped a 74-69 decision to Trinity Christian in the fifth place game at the NCCAA national tournament in Oakland City, IN. The Golden Tornadoes placed sixth in the eight-team field and fell to 14-14 for the season.
While the final outcome was not what the Golden Tornadoes were hoping for on Thursday, three of Geneva′s seniors ended their careers in style. Three players finished the game in double figures, all of which were playing their final game in a Geneva uniform. Greg McDivitt posted a team high 19 points and ten rebounds, while Zac Northen poured in 18 points and seven boards. Mike Ross ended his Geneva run with an 11 point, eight rebound effort in his final game.
Geneva trailed by four points at halftime and fell behind by as many as 15 in the second half. The Golden Tornadoes late rally came up short as they suffered, what seemed to be all season, a hard fought loss.
Geneva shot 41% from the field for the game, but managed just five three-point field goals. Trinity Christian closed out the season with a record of 23-13 as it shot 43% from the field, including a 12-25 effort in the final 20 minutes. Will Bruinsma proved to be Geneva′s thorn with a game high 23 points on 9-18 shooting from the field.
