SWEET REVENGE, GENEVATURNS TABLE WITH SWEEP
OVER PENN STATE BEAVER WHILE ‘MONTY′ MAKES HISTORY

Beaver Falls, PA - Geneva′s doubleheader victory over Penn State Beaver on Saturday by scores of 6-5 and 11-2 was special on more than one front. The Golden Tornadoes were able to enact some revenge against the Lions for a 10-9 loss on Monday. Secondly, senior closer Justin Montgomery collected his record breaking 17th career save in the night cap. Geneva′s two victories improved its overall record to 11-4, while Penn State fell to 5-4.

In game one, Geneva held off a rallying Penn State team for a one-run victory. Geneva had a total of ten hits, including two each from Tadd Eyster, Andy Lubich and Phil Shallenberger. Geneva opened the scoring with three runs in the third and extended the lead with a pair in the fourth. Much like Monday′s game, Penn State started creeping back into the game and finished the contest with the tying run on third base. Matt Baer pitched six innings for his second victory of the season. Baer surrendered seven hits and struck out two. Justin Montgomery closed out the game, but did not qualify for the save. Game two was a different story as Montgomery pitched the final three innings of the victory to register his fourth save of the season and his career best 17th of his career. Matt Lehman tossed four innings of four hit ball for his second win of the year.

On offense, the Golden Tornadoes scattered eight hits, including a pair from Tyler Kepiro. Jon Jurinko launched his second homer of the season to give Geneva some late game insurance. Andy Hiskey also helped Geneva′s cause with a pair of RBI′s.

Geneva will get one more shot against Penn State Beaver on Tuesday when the Lions make a return trip to 33rd Street Field for a doubleheader. Next Saturday, the Golden Tornadoes will get back into PAC play when they host Washington & Jefferson.
