WIN STREAK STRETCHES TO SIX WITH SWEEP OVER

WESTMINSTER, PEARCE SETS NEW HOME RUN MARK

Beaver Falls, PA - So far so good for Geneva′s softball team at its new field. For the second consecutive day, the Golden Tornadoes used home cooking to gain a doubleheader sweep. On Tuesday, Geneva cruised past Westminster by the scores of 7-1 and 8-0 to move its win streak to six games and improve to 15-9 on the season. During Geneva′s six-game streak, the Golden Tornadoes have out scored their opponents 52-2.

Junior catcher Amy Pearce stole the show in the night cap by blasting a pair of home runs which set a new single season record for Geneva with ten home runs in just 24 games. Pearce collected five RBI′s with a two run shot in the third and a three run homer in the seventh inning. Geneva banged out 13 hits, including multiple hit games from Pearce, Adriane Blake, Ashley Archer and Michawn Rich. Geneva opened the scoring in game two with back to back doubles from Lindsay Piette and Leanne Abate in the second inning. In the circle, freshman Rebekah Wahl continued to be dominant with a complete game shut-out. Wahl allowed just four hits and struck out four for her fifth win of the season. Wahl stretched her scoreless innings streak to 14 straight innings with allowing a run.

In game one of the doubleheader, Ashley Archer tossed a complete game and allowed just one earned run in picking up victory number nine. She struck out nine and allowed just six hits. Geneva opened the scoring with three runs in the fourth highlighted by back to back RBI doubles from Michawn Rich and Amy Pearce. Samantha Bautista picked up the other RBI on a single. Geneva opened the game up with a four-run sixth inning that featured four hits after two outs, including RBI knocks from Ashley Archer, Michawn Rich and Amy Pearce.

Geneva will continue its PAC schedule on Saturday when it travels to Washington, PA to take on Washington & Jefferson at 1 pm in PAC action. The Golden Tornadoes will put their undefeated home record on the line next Monday against Grove City.
