BEARANDDURIANCIK QUALIFY FOR NATIONALS, WHILE
FLETCHER
ANDFRACTION HIGHLIGHT WESTMINSTERMEET

New Wilmington, PA - Geneva′s track and field team competed in the closest thing to a track doubleheader on Saturday. While the majority of the men′s and women′s team competed at the Westminster Invitational in New Wilmington, a pair of Geneva athletes tried their hand at the Multi-Event and IUP.

Tiffany Bear on the women′s side and Luke Duriancik for the men, each qualified for the NCCAA national meet after brilliant performances in the heptathlon and decathlon events at IUP. Bear posted 4,042 total points; including personal bests in the long jump (16-10) and 800 meter race (2:48). Meanwhile, Duriancik qualified for nationals with 4,946 points and including a trio of personal best performances. Duriancik turned in his top performances in the javelin (111-00), 1500 meter (5:05) and set a new school record in the 110 hurdles (16.82).

Meanwhile at Westminster, Cory "action" Fraction was doing some damage of his own. Fraction placed second in the 100 meter race with a finishing time of 11:44. He also turned in an 11th place finish in the 200 meter event. In women′s action, Susan Fletcher finished second in the 5000 meter event and Kelsey Anderson turned in top ten finishes in the 100 meter hurdles, pole vault and javelin.

The track and field team will compete together next week at the Presidents′ Athletic Conference championships being held at Washington & Jefferson on Saturday.
