BEAVER FALLS, Pa. – Geneva will host its annual alumni weekend on April 18-19. This weekend will celebrate Geneva′s 160th anniversary, and will also feature a softball reunion and a Chemistry major and minor reunion.

 

The weekend will begin on Friday, April 18 at 6:30 p.m. in Alexander Hall with a Presidential dinner for the class of 1958. The events will continue on Saturday, April 19, beginning with registration in Old Main lobby from 9-11 a.m. The day will also include campus tours, a reunion brunch, and a memorial service to reconnect with or remember old classmates. In addition, Professor Emerita, Elizabeth Douglas, will offer a lecture covering the historical development of the humanities program at Geneva at 2 p.m. in McCartney Library. Also, Dr. Howard Peters (′62) will offer a presentation on the history of chocolate, and the biochemistry of cocoa at 3 p.m. in McCartney Library.

The softball and chemistry major/minor reunions will begin on April 19. The softball reunion will celebrate the opening of the new women′s softball field on campus, and will offer activities for both current softball players and alumni. The chemistry major/minor reunion will begin with registration at 9 a.m. in Old Main lobby and continue throughout the day with a symposium, lectures, activities, a research and career session, and a dessert reception. 

Finally, the weekend will celebrate Geneva′s 160th anniversary by passing a torch from Geneva′s original location, Northwood, Ohio, to Beaver Falls. The weekend will conclude with a ceremony as the torch arrives to Old Main at 8:30 p.m.

The lectures and special events for Alumni Weekend are free, but registration is required. Tickets and registration are required for the Presidential dinner, reunion brunch, chemistry box lunch, softball reunion dinner, and the chemistry dinner and dessert reception.
