Geneva Jazz Band

BEAVER FALLS, Pa. — Are you in the mood for an evening of great big band jazz music? Do you wish you could hear the music of Count Basie and Duke Ellington live in concert, but never thought you would get the chance? Now is your chance, as the Geneva College Jazz Band will present In the Mood XIII, a concert of big band and swing standards on Sat., April 12 at 8 p.m. in the John H. White Chapel on Geneva′s campus.

“These In The Mood concerts have become such a tremendous night of fun and energy,” says Jazz Band director Don Kephart. “Having a full house and watching such a wide range of ages enjoy the same wonderful music together is just a great experience.”

For the past 13 years, the Jazz Band — a student-comprised jazz ensemble — has met in the spring semester to practice jazz music from the 1930s, ‘40s and ‘50s.

“As usual Don Kephart has found a wonderful group of big band numbers to thrill the audience and challenge his very talented players,” says Louise Copeland, long-time emcee for the event. “[The musicians] work hard and always put on a fine show. I enjoy narrating the concert and am delighted to be a part of this jazzy event.”

The event is open to the public, and tickets are required. Tickets are $7 for adults and $3 for students. You may purchase or reserve tickets in person or by phone (724-847-6660); you can contact the music department office between 8 – 11 a.m. or 3:30 – 4:30 p.m. each weekday. Remember, reserve now — tickets are for this high-demand concert are limited.
