mancini.jpgBEAVER FALLS, Pa. – Celebrated hometown musician B.E. Taylor will perform “Moon River” and radio personality Stephanie Fraschetti will sing “Days of Wine and Roses” at the 14th annual Henry Mancini Musical Theatre Awards. The program will be held at Geneva College′s Metheny Fieldhouse on Wednesday, May 21 at 7 p.m.

Established in 1994, The Henry Mancini Musical Theatre Awards host high school students as they perform and receive awards for their school musical productions. Each year, 15 schools are accepted into the program designed to promote and celebrate the arts in high school students. All high schools in the Beaver, Butler and Lawrence County areas are invited to attend. Geneva College is committed to enhancing the arts in Western Pennsylvania and preserving the Mancini legacy that is part of our rich heritage.

A $1,000 scholarship to a college of choice is awarded to one student participant chosen by a panel of judges based on a submitted essay. $1,000 is awarded in scholarship to any student participant enrolling at Geneva College.  Student participants include anyone who has acted in the school musical, performed in the orchestra or was part of the stage crew/production team.

A native of Aliquippa, Pennsylvania, Taylor has been singing since the age of 12, when his parents bought him his first guitar. His successful musical career has included four albums, a popular Christmas concert series and performances at a variety of cultural musical events such as ballets, festivals, conventions and church events. Fraschetti is a local singer / songwriter and co-host of the “John and Stephanie Show” on WORD FM in Pittsburgh, Pa.

Like B.E. Taylor, Mancini was raised in Aliquippa fell in love with music at a young age. He was an incredibly influential film composer, with famous scores from films such as The Pink Panther and Breakfast at Tiffany′s. He was nominated for 72 Grammy awards (won 20), nominated for 18 Oscars (won 4) and was awarded an Emmy award and eight gold records for album sales.
