ECAC HONORS PEARCE ANDANTHONY WITH
SECOND
TEAMSELECTIONS

Beaver Falls, PA - Geneva′s softball team enjoyed an impressive first season as a member of NCAA Division III and the Presidents′ Athletic Conference. The Golden Tornadoes were also competing as a member of the ECAC (Eastern College Athletic Conference) for the first time in 2008. On Wednesday, the ECAC announced its post-season honors and two of Geneva′s top performers were recognized as second team selections.
Junior catcher Amy Pearce (Hackettstown, NJ) and senior outfielder Jackie Anthony (Rochester, PA) were both selected as Division III South Region selections. Pearce put together a career year by leading the Golden Tornadoes in hits (60), runs (42), average (.444), home runs (12) and RBI′s (51). Her 12 home runs and 51 RBI′s were both single season records for the Golden Tornadoes. Anthony served as Geneva′s offensive spark all season with 41 hits and an average of .406. Anthony stole 28 bases in 31 attempts and broke Geneva′s career record for stolen bases with 79 at season′s end.

Geneva′s softball team finished the 2008 season with an overall record of 29-13, including a 14-4 mark against PAC competition. In addition to be named to the ECAC All-Star team, Pearce and Anthony were joined by Michawn Rich, Ashley Archer and Rebekah Wahl as Coaches Award recipients in the Presidents′ Athletic Conference. Pearce was also named NCCAA Eastern Regional player of the year.
