BEAVER FALLS, Pa. - Despite increased competition among institutions of higher education, Geneva College is poised to exceed its enrollment target for the second year in a row. To date, 450 new students have indicated their commitment to enroll, making this the second year that Geneva achieved its enrollment goal in the summer months.

This year′s milestone means a 10 percent increase in new student enrollment over fall 2007 and 20 percent over fall 2006.

"The fact that the number of new students coming to Geneva is again increasing is extremely encouraging-particularly in light of our very competitive higher education market in southwestern Pennsylvania," says Geneva College President Ken Smith. "We see the high level of student interest in Geneva as an affirmation of the value of a high-quality education taught from a Christian perspective."

While a majority of the new students are coming to Geneva from southwestern Pennsylvania, the college is drawing increasing numbers of students from the center of the state and nearby Ohio, New York, New Jersey, Virginia and Maryland. In addition, students are coming from 27 U.S. states and foreign countries such as Cyprus and Nigeria.

Geneva College provides rigorous academics with a distinctive Christ-centered perspective and a small-college atmosphere. Recognized for providing individualized attention, the average class size (not including independent studies) is 17 and the student/faculty ratio is 13:1. Geneva′s academic quality is demonstrated above-average graduation rates (57 percent over five years, compared to the national 38 percent). More importantly, 94 percent of Geneva graduates are either working or in grad school within six months and 55 percent of seniors typically have jobs or admission to grad school prior to graduation.

Geneva College is a comprehensive Christian college of the arts, sciences and professional studies. Founded in the tradition of the Reformed Christian faith, Geneva prepares students to serve Christ in all areas of society: work, family and the church. Geneva is a founding member of the Council for Christian Colleges & Universities (CCCU).
