Sluggish Second Half Costs Geneva Season Opener

Wilmington, OH - Most coaches are concerned with how their team will respond early in a new season. Geneva head men′s soccer coach Todd Beall got a good start from his team, but his Golden Tornadoes could not hold a first half lead and dropped a 2-1 decision to Wilmington College on Friday night.

Geneva opened the scoring with the only first half tally on a goal from sophomore Bruce Fox. Despite the early lead, the Golden Tornadoes could not hold off a Wilmington charge in the second half as a pair of goals sent Geneva to its first loss of the season.

Traveling to Ohio for a weekend trip to start the season, Geneva will turn around on Saturday and face off against former AMC foe Cedarville University. Beall will try to get his team motivated quickly as Geneva will play against his alma mater on Saturday.

The Golden Tornadoes will open their home schedule on Tuesday night when they host another former AMC foe in Point Park University.
