Two Victories For Geneva Opens Season at Johns Hopkins

Baltimore, MD - It took Geneva′s volleyball team 12 matches to find the win column in 2007. The new season started in much better fashion as the Golden Tornadoes picked up a pair of victories on the first day of the Johns Hopkins Tournament. Geneva defeated Goucher College 3-1 in the opener and closed out DeSales by a 3-0 count in the night cap. After dropping the first game against Goucher, the Golden Tornadoes rolled to six consecutive game victories to sweep the night.

In the first match of the night, sophomore Adriane Blake led the offense with 19 kills while Brandi Snavely directed the offense with a team best 31 assists. Senior Faith Guerra had 16 digs and Blair Bruce turned aside six blocks to lead the way.

In the night cap, Blake and Elizabeth Fisher each had nine kills. Guerra again led the defense with 23 digs and Snavely was solid with 24 assists.

The Golden Tornadoes will attempt a weekend sweep with two more matches at Johns Hopkins on Saturday afternoon. Geneva doesn′t begin its home season until returning to Metheny Fieldhouse on September 20th.
