WELCOME BACK MCCRACK, JAKE TALLIES

TWO IN VICTORY

Johnstown, PA - Jake McCracken had his freshman season cut short because of injuries in 2007 for the Geneva men′s soccer team. In just a few games, McCracken managed to score three goals in his initial college season. One of those three goals last year came in a 1-0 victory over Pitt-Johnstown. On Friday, McCracken once again played the UPJ villain as he scored both goals in a 2-1 Geneva victory. The win pushed Geneva′s early season record to 3-1, including three consecutive victories.

The Golden Tornadoes watched UPJ jump out to a 1-0 lead. It was the first time this year that Geneva had not drawn first blood in a match. Still trailing late into the second half, the Golden Tornadoes and McCracken capitalized on a penalty kick to tie the score in the 79th minute. With the score tied at one, McCracken took a cross from Josh Mann and buried the ball into the back of the net with just 1:03 remaining on the clock. Geneva fired nine shots on goal in the victory.

David Callahan made his second start and picked up his second victory in goal. The junior transfer faced just three shots on goal and managed to turn two of them aside to earn the victory.

The Golden Tornadoes will return home on Monday night to face off against Mt. Aloysius at 7 pm.
