TOOMUCH MUNSCH, JUNIOR SCORES TWICE
LEADING
GENEVATO 2-0 VICTORY

Beaver Falls, PA - Geneva′s women′s soccer team got a couple firsts on Saturday afternoon. The Golden Tornadoes scored their first goal at Merriman Athletic Complex and they picked up their first victory on home turf. Geneva moved to 3-2 on the season with a 2-0 victory over Medaille College. After winning just two games throughout the entire 2007 season, the Golden Tornadoes did themselves one better just five matches into the 2008 season.

Junior forward Amanda Munsch provided all the offense Geneva would need with a goal in each half to pace the victory. Munsch found the net in the 29th minute when she took a pass from Allison Berlin and buried it into the back of the net. The score remained 1-0 until Kelsey Anderson found Munsch again in the 83rd minute and the junior notched her team leading fourth goal of the season.

Geneva was drastically out shot in the second half and for the game it watched Medaille post 20 shots to just seven; however, it was two of Geneva′s four shots on goal that made the difference. Medaille goalkeeper Haessner Mattea made two saves, while Geneva sophomore Lauren Londino turned away all nine shots on goal to earn her third shut-out of the season.

Playing on a less than favorable track because of inclement weather, the Golden Tornadoes took advantage of their offense opportunities and put an end to their two game slide.

Geneva will be back in action next Wednesday at Franciscan University. The Golden Tornadoes will return home on September 24th to host Pitt-Greensburg.
